UPDATE ON THE NATIONAL DEFENSE AUTHORIZATION ACT

Last week the final FY24 NDAA Conference report passed. Unfortunately, the language from Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis) was not included in the report, which would have required by 2033, every Navy ship uses 100 percent domestically produced materials, such as propulsion systems, shipboard components, couplings, shafts and support bearings. An amendment that Congressman Finstad introduced was also not included.  This is extremely disappointing, based on the work ASSA members and members of Congress did to make the needed changes to support the industry. It also means that our efforts are needed now more than ever before to continue to advocate for support for our fragile industry.  Please reach out to your members of Congress and Navy officials to let your voice be heard.
