The American Shipbuilding Suppliers Association announces Laura Haas as their new Chief Executive Of


Washington, District of Columbia – February 5, 2019 – The American Shipbuilding Suppliers Association (ASSA) recently announced Laura Haas as their new Chief Executive Officer of the Association.

Haas has previously served as the COO under the leadership of then President, Chris Cikanovich. Cikanovich has moved into a new role within the association as the Chair of the Board of Directors.

​”Laura has been instrumental in the ASSA for years. Her leadership role in the organization over the past few years has been instrumental in furthering the mission of our association and advocating for this important industry for our United States defense,” said Cikanovich. “We are pleased to see her stay on in this integral role.”

Haas is a subject matter expert in defense, shipbuilding and transportation issues. She worked on Capital Hill for 8 years before joining the lobbying firm, Brown and Company, Inc. (BCI) as Vice President for Legislation. At BCI, Haas managed a portfolio of clients in the shipbuilding industry and lobbied on behalf of the American Shipbuilding Association. In 2007, she opened her full service consulting firm, Laura Haas Consulting LLC, in Charlottesville, VA, that specializes in government relations, business development and strategic consulting.

As a member driven organization, American Shipbuilding Suppliers Association (ASSA), advocates for the US shipbuilding supplier community directly to Congress, the Navy and the Coast Guard on industry-wide issues.
